Koh Chang |Thailand

I met two lovely German girls who had just come from Thailand so they gave me some tips of things to see and places to go. Koh Chang island was at the top of that list. Now, it’s not necessarily easy to get to, but I was determined. I remember flying into Bangkok, checking into the hotel for the night and making sure I had everything ready to leave the next morning at sunrise. Vietnam was beautiful and I loved the natural landscapes and the crazy death defying task of crossing the road, but I was ready for some beach time.
I love the beach. I mean really love. Like, there’s nothing better. I could spend the whole day at the beach and never ever get bored. I have even spent the night on the beach. with nothing more than a beach blanket to wrap around me. That’s how deep the love goes. So I decided I would start my trip on the beach and see the city later, on the tail end of the journey.
Sunrise.To.Sunset. When I say it took all day to arrive. I took all day. I traveled by bus, ferry, tuk tuk, donkey and foot to get to this spot, on this beach and holding that margarita. A full day’s travel for that sunset? I would do it all again in a heartbeat. During my stay on Koh Chang, I talked to other travelers who had done Bangkok first and they all said they wished they’d carved out more time for the island. That was all the convincing I needed. I extended my stay for a few more days by convincing myself that once you’ve seen one big city, you’ve seen them all. Bangkok would have to wait.
